Role Overview

Job Overview

Salesforce is hiring a Software Engineering - SMTS professional for its Industries Cloud organization in Hyderabad, India. This is a full-time senior engineering opportunity for an experienced technology professional with 10 or more years of relevant experience across software engineering, Salesforce architecture, technical consulting, and performance validation.

The role is focused on helping complex Salesforce Industries Cloud implementations remain scalable, reliable, performant, and aligned with platform engineering practices. Rather than owning routine implementation delivery or presales activities, the position provides deep technical assessment and advisory support. The engineer will examine architecture, custom development, data models, integrations, transaction flows, and non-functional requirements to identify risks and recommend practical improvements.

This opportunity is particularly suited to a senior Salesforce engineer or architect who enjoys solving difficult performance and scalability problems. The work combines hands-on technical investigation with architecture judgment and requires evidence-based recommendations that can be understood by engineering, product, architecture, Customer Success, and implementation teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead architecture, scalability, and performance reviews for complex Salesforce Industries Cloud solutions.
  • Examine complete solution designs, including Salesforce configuration, customization, Apex code, Industries Cloud components, data models, integrations, APIs, asynchronous processing, and security boundaries.
  • Investigate critical transaction paths for latency, throughput, concurrency, resource consumption, reliability, and data-integrity risks.
  • Evaluate designs against Salesforce platform considerations such as governor limits, CPU and heap usage, SOQL selectivity, DML behavior, record locking, data skew, payload sizes, and large-data-volume requirements.
  • Convert business volumes and expected growth into realistic workload models covering concurrency, peak transactions per second, data volume, retention, batch activity, and demanding transaction scenarios.
  • Define measurable performance budgets, acceptance criteria, and production-readiness indicators from non-functional requirements.
  • Inspect code, queries, logs, traces, profiling information, and runtime telemetry to locate performance bottlenecks across application, integration, data, user-interface, and platform layers.
  • Recommend engineering improvements involving bulkification, selective queries, indexing, caching, asynchronous processing, transaction decomposition, data lifecycle management, and resilient integration approaches.
  • Assess operational behavior such as retries, idempotency, partial failures, rollback, race conditions, record locking, observability, and recovery.
  • Prepare architecture findings, performance assessments, risk evaluations, implementation gates, and prioritized remediation recommendations based on technical evidence.
  • Work with engineering, product, Customer Success, and implementation teams to validate critical findings and drive issues toward closure.
  • Develop reusable engineering patterns, review approaches, automation, and technical guidance that improve Industries Cloud and SPARK practices.
  • Use AI-assisted engineering tools responsibly for design analysis, investigation, documentation, and repeatable engineering activities.

Required Skills

The role requires strong hands-on knowledge of the Salesforce platform and the ability to evaluate enterprise implementations beyond surface-level configuration. Candidates should have practical experience with Apex, SOQL, DML, asynchronous Apex, APIs, integration patterns, data modeling, and Salesforce governor limits.

Strong performance engineering skills are essential. You should be comfortable working with latency, throughput, concurrency, CPU and memory consumption, database utilization, network behavior, and error rates. Experience using logs, traces, profiling information, query plans, and system metrics to diagnose distributed or multi-tier application issues is important.

The position also requires the ability to evaluate large-data-volume solutions, query selectivity, indexing strategies, transaction boundaries, locking behavior, and the tradeoffs between synchronous and asynchronous processing. Development and debugging experience in Apex and at least one general-purpose language such as Java or Python is required.

Candidates should also be able to create realistic workload models, performance tests, or automation that represents user and system behavior and helps identify regressions before production impact.

Preferred Skills

Experience with Salesforce Industries Cloud or comparable industry-specific enterprise applications is preferred. Familiarity with Salesforce Industries solutions across areas such as Financial Services, Health and Life Sciences, Communications, Media, Energy and Utilities, Public Sector, Insurance, or Loyalty Management can be valuable.

Consulting or technical advisory experience is also useful, particularly in regulated or high-scale environments. Salesforce certifications or accreditations related to architecture, development, or Industries Cloud are preferred.

Additional experience with high-volume APIs, event-driven architectures, batch processing, mobile or browser performance, and multi-system integration flows can further strengthen an application.

Education

The provided job description does not specify a mandatory degree or formal educational qualification. Candidates should demonstrate the required senior-level technical experience in software engineering, Salesforce architecture, technical consulting, and performance validation. Relevant Salesforce certifications or accreditations are preferred.

Experience

A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience is required across software engineering, Salesforce architecture, technical consulting, and performance validation. Candidates should have repeated experience working with large-scale enterprise systems and strong hands-on exposure to troubleshooting or reviewing Salesforce solutions.

Experience with Salesforce Industries Cloud is preferred, along with the ability to independently analyze multiple technical workstreams and distinguish measured findings from assumptions.

Required Technologies

  • Salesforce
  • Salesforce Industries Cloud
  • Apex
  • SOQL
  • DML
  • Asynchronous Apex
  • APIs
  • REST APIs and integration patterns
  • Data modeling
  • Java
  • Python
  • CI/CD
  • Cloud environments
  • AI-assisted engineering tools

Soft Skills

Strong analytical thinking is important because the role involves separating evidence from assumptions, quantifying technical risk, and translating complex findings into actionable recommendations. Clear written and verbal communication is equally important when presenting technical conclusions to architects, developers, product teams, Customer Success, and program stakeholders.

The successful candidate should be comfortable working independently across multiple workstreams while collaborating with geographically distributed teams. Strategic thinking, technical judgment, structured problem solving, stakeholder management, and the ability to explain complex subjects in practical terms are important for success.

Benefits of Working in this Role

This role offers senior professionals an opportunity to work on complex Salesforce Industries Cloud implementations where architecture, scalability, performance, reliability, and platform behavior are central concerns. The position combines hands-on engineering investigation with technical advisory responsibilities, giving experienced professionals exposure to enterprise-scale architecture and performance challenges.
