Qualcomm Hiring Senior Systems Software Engineer in Bangalore
Role Overview
Job Overview
Qualcomm is looking for a Senior Engineer in Systems Software and Platform Engineering in Bangalore. The role focuses on developing, integrating, debugging, and optimizing platform software for next-generation System-on-Chip platforms. It is suited to engineers who enjoy solving complex system-level problems across operating systems, firmware, hardware interfaces, connectivity, power, performance, and other embedded platform areas.
The position combines hands-on software engineering with platform bring-up, subsystem integration, performance analysis, customer issue resolution, and product readiness activities. Engineers will work across Linux, Android, Zephyr, FreeRTOS, firmware, middleware, and kernel layers while collaborating with silicon, validation, architecture, and other software teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and integrate platform software across operating systems, firmware, middleware, and subsystem interfaces.
- Support platform bring-up, feature enablement, validation, and software readiness for new silicon programs.
- Investigate difficult issues that cross hardware, firmware, kernel, middleware, and application boundaries.
- Diagnose system behavior involving CPU, DSP, GPU, memory, storage, clocks, regulators, thermal controls, and connectivity components.
- Analyze system performance and optimize areas such as power consumption, memory usage, thermal behavior, reliability, and user experience.
- Use structured debugging methods such as instrumentation, tracing, failure reproduction, system correlation, and root-cause isolation.
- Apply profiling and observability techniques to locate bottlenecks and verify software improvements.
- Collaborate with silicon, firmware, validation, architecture, program management, and software engineering teams.
- Investigate customer-reported problems and drive issues through analysis, root-cause identification, and resolution.
- Own assigned features and technical deliverables through planning, implementation, validation, and closure.
- Support milestone planning, risk identification, defect tracking, product characterization, and performance analysis.
- Participate in architecture reviews and technical discussions involving system-level trade-offs.
- Mentor junior engineers and encourage strong debugging and software quality practices.
- Explore AI-assisted engineering tools to improve development efficiency and engineering productivity.
Required Skills
Candidates should have strong programming skills in C or C++ and practical experience with embedded systems, BSP, RTOS, Linux, Android, Zephyr, FreeRTOS, firmware, kernel, or platform software development.
A strong understanding of system-level debugging and software integration is important. You should be comfortable investigating failures across multiple layers instead of focusing only on application-level code. Experience with performance analysis, profiling, tracing, and root-cause debugging will be valuable.
The role also requires an understanding of modern SoC architectures and how different subsystems interact. Engineers should be able to evaluate system behavior across performance, power, memory, thermal, reliability, and user experience considerations.
Preferred Skills
Experience with Linux, Android, Zephyr, FreeRTOS, DSP, GPU, modem, connectivity, PMIC, power management, or AI accelerator subsystems is advantageous.
Experience with platform bring-up, subsystem integration, crash analysis, performance tuning, reliability engineering, system profiling, observability, and debugging tools can strengthen your application.
Qualcomm also identifies AI-assisted engineering workflows as a preferred area. Familiarity with tools such as Claude Code, Claude CLI, GitHub Copilot, MCP agents, or related engineering workflows may be useful.
Education
The role accepts a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. A PhD in a related discipline is also listed as an accepted qualification.
Experience
The posting contains multiple qualification pathways. It states a minimum of 2 years of Software Engineering or related work experience for candidates with a Bachelor's degree, 1 or more years for candidates with a Master's degree, or a PhD in a related field. It also specifies 2 or more years of academic or work experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Java, or Python.

Soft Skills
Strong analytical and debugging skills are important for this position because many assignments involve identifying problems across hardware and software boundaries. Clear communication is also required when working with architects, program managers, customers, validation teams, and other engineering groups.
Ownership, structured problem solving, collaboration, and the ability to communicate technical risks and mitigation plans are valuable. Senior engineers should also be comfortable mentoring junior colleagues and contributing to technical decisions.
Benefits of Working in this Role
The supplied job description does not provide a detailed list of role-specific employee benefits. It does, however, describe opportunities to work on next-generation SoC platforms, solve complex system-level engineering problems, contribute to product commercialization, and collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Work Mode
The supplied job description does not explicitly state whether this position is onsite, hybrid, or remote. Candidates should confirm the applicable work arrangement with Qualcomm during the hiring process.
Location
This Senior Engineer position is based in Bangalore, Karnataka, India.
Who Should Apply
This opportunity is relevant to software engineers with experience in embedded systems, platform software, firmware, BSP, RTOS, Linux, Android, or related system-level engineering areas. Candidates with strong C or C++ programming skills and an interest in debugging complex SoC platforms should consider applying.
Engineers who have worked with platform bring-up, performance tuning, subsystem integration, connectivity, power management, crash analysis, or reliability engineering may be especially aligned with the role.
Career Growth
The position offers exposure to platform software development for next-generation SoC products and requires collaboration across silicon, firmware, validation, architecture, and software teams. Such experience can support career development toward senior platform engineering, embedded systems leadership, system architecture, performance engineering, or technical specialist roles.
Working on customer issues, product readiness, architecture discussions, and system-level optimization can also broaden an engineer's understanding beyond individual software components and help develop end-to-end platform expertise.
Application Advice
Tailor your resume to emphasize system-level software development rather than only application programming. Clearly mention C and C++ experience, embedded systems work, RTOS exposure, Linux or Android development, firmware, BSP, kernel work, and debugging experience where applicable.
Highlight concrete examples of platform bring-up, subsystem integration, performance optimization, crash analysis, tracing, profiling, or customer issue resolution. If you have worked with DSP, GPU, modem, connectivity, PMIC, power management, or AI accelerator subsystems, make those areas easy to find on your resume.
You can also mention relevant experience with AI-assisted engineering tools such as Claude Code, Claude CLI, GitHub Copilot, or MCP agents if you have used them professionally or in engineering projects. Be prepared to discuss how you approach difficult system failures, isolate root causes, evaluate performance trade-offs, and collaborate with other engineering disciplines.
