Role Overview

Job Overview

Qualcomm is hiring a Senior Engineer in Hyderabad to support software development, platform integration, automation, and bring-up activities for next-generation smart devices. The role sits within a fast-moving software engineering environment where engineers work across multiple technical layers and collaborate with internal and external teams.

This opportunity is well suited to engineers who enjoy embedded software, system integration, debugging, and solving problems that cross hardware and software boundaries. You will contribute to platform software spanning Linux and Android, firmware, middleware, subsystem interfaces, and other components needed to prepare new silicon platforms for product use.

The work also includes improving engineering workflows through automation and observability. Engineers in this role are expected to investigate complex technical issues, understand system behavior, and help deliver stable and production-ready platforms.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and integrate platform software across Linux, Android, firmware, middleware, and subsystem interfaces.
  • Support platform bring-up and feature enablement for new silicon programs.
  • Help drive software readiness by identifying integration gaps and resolving technical issues.
  • Debug problems that can span hardware, firmware, kernel, middleware, and application layers.
  • Analyze system behavior related to power, performance, memory, thermal characteristics, and reliability.
  • Investigate issues involving CPU, DSP, GPU, memory, storage, clocks, regulators, and connectivity components.
  • Support customer issue investigations and contribute to product defect resolution.
  • Improve engineering productivity through workflow automation and related tooling.
  • Contribute to observability initiatives that make system behavior and issues easier to understand.
  • Work with engineering teams across different technical domains to deliver integrated platform solutions.

Required Skills

Candidates should have a solid software engineering foundation and practical experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Java, or Python. Experience in embedded software or platform development is highly relevant to the work.

A strong debugging and troubleshooting mindset is important. The role requires engineers to investigate issues that may cross several layers of a device platform, from applications and middleware down to kernels, firmware, and hardware-related subsystems. The ability to isolate problems, understand system interactions, and develop practical solutions is therefore essential.

Experience with Linux or Android environments is valuable, particularly when working on platform integration, system bring-up, or low-level debugging. Familiarity with RTOS platforms can also be useful.

Preferred Skills

Experience in embedded software development, Linux, Android, or RTOS environments is preferred. Candidates familiar with multimedia or connectivity technologies may also bring relevant domain knowledge.

The role favors engineers who can work independently while collaborating effectively with multiple teams. Experience diagnosing system-level problems, supporting product defects, or working on new silicon programs can be especially useful.

Strong analytical skills are important for investigating issues involving processors, graphics, memory, storage, power, thermal behavior, clocks, regulators, and connectivity subsystems.

Education

The position accepts a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related discipline with the required software engineering experience. A Master's degree in a relevant field with the corresponding experience requirement or a relevant PhD is also listed as an eligible educational path.

Experience

The minimum qualifications specify 2+ years of software engineering or related work experience for Bachelor's degree holders, 1+ year for Master's degree holders, or a relevant PhD. The posting also requires 2+ years of academic or work experience with programming languages such as C, C++, Java, or Python.

Required Technologies

Relevant technologies and technical areas include C, C++, Java, Python, Linux, Android, RTOS, firmware, middleware, kernel software, embedded software, platform integration, system bring-up, automation, observability, CPU, DSP, GPU, memory, storage, clocks, regulators, and connectivity subsystems.

Soft Skills

The position requires strong problem-solving, analytical, debugging, and troubleshooting abilities. Candidates should be self-motivated, adaptable, and comfortable working across multiple technology areas.

Good communication and teamwork are important because the role involves collaboration with internal and external engineering groups. The ability to work effectively in an environment where priorities and technical challenges can change is also valuable.

Benefits of Working in this Role

This role provides hands-on exposure to next-generation smart device platforms and the interaction between embedded software, operating systems, firmware, middleware, and hardware subsystems. Engineers can broaden their system-level understanding while working on platform bring-up, integration, debugging, automation, and product readiness.

The cross-domain nature of the position can also help engineers develop practical experience across performance, power, memory, thermal, reliability, and connectivity considerations.

Work Mode

The job description does not specify a remote or hybrid arrangement. This is a full-time position based in Hyderabad.

Location

Hyderabad, Telangana, India.

Who Should Apply

This opportunity is suitable for software engineers with experience in embedded or platform software who enjoy system integration and low-level debugging. Candidates with practical knowledge of Linux, Android, RTOS, firmware, middleware, or kernel-level software should highlight that experience.

Engineers searching for Qualcomm Jobs, Senior Software Engineer Jobs, Embedded Software Jobs, Linux Jobs, Android Jobs, Platform Software Jobs, or Hyderabad IT Jobs may consider this opportunity if their skills align with the requirements.

Career Growth

Experience across platform bring-up, software integration, debugging, automation, and system optimization can support future careers in embedded software engineering, platform engineering, firmware development, systems engineering, device software, performance engineering, and technical integration roles.

Working across hardware and software boundaries can also help engineers build broader system-level expertise and prepare for more complex engineering responsibilities.

Application Advice

Highlight practical experience with C or C++ and clearly describe embedded software, Linux, Android, RTOS, firmware, middleware, or system integration work. Include examples of complex debugging or troubleshooting tasks and explain how you identified the problem and contributed to its resolution.
