Microsoft is hiring a Senior Software Engineer in Hyderabad for a full-time software engineering opportunity within the Commercial Sales Experiences Engineering organization. This role focuses on developing enterprise applications that combine cloud computing, artificial intelligence, full-stack engineering, security, data, and automation.

The engineer will contribute throughout the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, architecture, application and database design, coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and production support. Key Responsibilities

• Lead software development from requirements gathering and technical design through implementation, testing, deployment, and operational support.
• Design scalable, secure, resilient, and maintainable enterprise applications using suitable architecture patterns and technologies.
• Build AI-powered applications and agentic solutions that improve user productivity and customer experiences.
• Develop full-stack solutions covering backend services, APIs, databases, and modern frontend applications.
• Apply microservices and loosely coupled architecture principles to cloud-native solutions.
• Guide technical decisions involving architecture, design patterns, technology selection, and engineering dependencies.
• Establish strong engineering practices for coding, automated testing, documentation, security, and software quality.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, technical discussions, architecture feedback, and knowledge sharing.
• Work with Microsoft product teams, program managers, UX professionals, and engineering groups to deliver integrated solutions.
• Participate in cross-team engineering initiatives and help coordinate technical dependencies.
• Improve production reliability through monitoring, alerting, diagnostics, automated recovery, and incident management.
• Lead root cause analysis and implement improvements to performance, scalability, reliability, and cost efficiency.
• Identify opportunities for automation and process improvement across development and delivery workflows.
• Contribute to sprint, quarterly, and semester planning with realistic estimates, milestones, risks, and delivery commitments.
• Communicate technical progress, risks, dependencies, and business impact clearly to stakeholders.

Required Skills

Candidates should have strong professional software engineering experience and be comfortable working across architecture, development, testing, deployment, and production operations. Programming experience in C#, C++, C, Java, JavaScript, or Python is required.

Strong practical knowledge of C# and .NET, microservices architecture, REST APIs, React, and JavaScript or TypeScript is highly relevant. The role requires experience developing commercial software and delivering production services.

You should understand cloud development principles such as loosely coupled systems, cloud-native architecture, DevOps practices, scalability, security, reliability, and operational excellence. Experience with enterprise Azure infrastructure and PaaS services is also important.

AI experience is a significant part of this position. Candidates should understand how AI and machine learning capabilities can be integrated into applications and agent workflows. Experience with GitHub Copilot, Copilot CLI or SDK, Claude CLI, or similar AI development technologies is valuable, especially when used to build agents, plugins, skills, MCP servers, or engineering automation.

Preferred Skills

A strong preferred profile includes 6+ years of commercial software engineering experience and a record of successfully delivering software products or services. Experience leading technical dependencies, architectural decisions, and cross-team engineering initiatives is beneficial.

Experience building intelligent applications using ASP.NET and Azure AI technologies, including Azure AI Foundry, is preferred. Knowledge of AI and machine learning concepts and practical experience integrating AI capabilities into agent workflows can further strengthen an application.

Additional useful experience includes Power Platform, Dynamics 365, enterprise-scale cloud architecture, global Agile teams, startup-style engineering environments, and customer-focused technology delivery. Experience influencing technical decisions in cross-group or matrixed organizations is also valuable.

Education

A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field is the stated minimum qualification. Equivalent professional experience may also be considered. The preferred profile combines formal technical education with substantial commercial software engineering experience.

Experience

The minimum requirement is 4+ years of technical engineering experience involving software development. Preferred qualifications include 6+ years of experience as a software engineer building commercial software, 6+ years of cloud development experience, and 5+ years of experience leading technical or architectural dependencies.
