Role Overview

Job Overview

Cisco is hiring a Software QA Engineer for its Intersight Quality Engineering team in Bangalore, India. This onsite opportunity focuses on quality engineering for cloud-based data-center management capabilities.

The role combines quality strategy, test planning, automation engineering, infrastructure validation, release readiness, and technical leadership. The successful candidate will work with globally distributed engineering and cross-functional teams to improve product quality, strengthen test coverage, identify risks, and support reliable software releases.

This position is particularly suitable for experienced QA and quality engineering professionals who have worked with enterprise SaaS software, cloud infrastructure, microservices, test automation, CI/CD environments, and data-center technologies. The role also provides an opportunity to apply generative AI and AI-assisted engineering tools to testing activities while maintaining strong standards for accuracy, security, and maintainability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define practical, risk-based quality strategies for cloud-based data-center management products.
  • Establish test approaches, release criteria, automation priorities, and measurable quality outcomes.
  • Work with developers, product leaders, and engineering teams to improve application testability and identify quality risks early.
  • Investigate complex defects, analyze technical evidence, and coordinate issues through resolution.
  • Design, maintain, and improve scalable Python-based test automation frameworks.
  • Integrate automated testing with CI/CD pipelines and quality gates.
  • Build automation and infrastructure validation solutions using Git and browser or API automation technologies.
  • Use Selenium WebDriver or equivalent tools for automated validation.
  • Apply generative AI and AI-assisted engineering tools to accelerate test-case creation, automation development, code refactoring, log analysis, defect triage, and technical investigations.
  • Review AI-generated outputs for correctness, security, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Validate Cisco UCS environments and related data-center infrastructure.
  • Work with Fabric Interconnects, chassis, blade servers, rack servers, adapters, operating systems, networking, virtualization, Ethernet switching, storage, and Fibre Channel environments.
  • Mentor engineers and contribute technical guidance across distributed teams.
  • Communicate release risks, quality findings, and technical recommendations clearly to stakeholders.
  • Participate in architecture discussions and cross-functional decisions that improve product quality and customer experience.

Required Skills

Candidates should have at least 10 years of software quality-assurance or quality-engineering experience along with a relevant bachelor's degree.

Strong experience in quality strategy, test planning, risk assessment, and release validation is required. Candidates should have worked with SaaS enterprise software, cloud infrastructure, or microservices-based platforms and understand how to create testing approaches for complex technology products.

Advanced Python skills are important for developing maintainable automation solutions. Applicants should understand object-oriented design, test automation architecture, Git, CI/CD integration, and browser or API automation using Selenium WebDriver or comparable tools.

The role also requires practical knowledge of data-center infrastructure. Relevant experience includes troubleshooting rack and blade servers, chassis, adapters, Ethernet switching, Fibre Channel, storage, networking, operating systems, and virtualization technologies.

Experience with generative AI or AI-assisted engineering tools is required at a practical level. Candidates should understand how these tools can support test design, code generation, automation refactoring, log analysis, defect investigation, and technical troubleshooting while recognizing the need to validate generated results.

Preferred Skills

Networking certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE in Data Center, Enterprise, or a related discipline are valued.

Deep hands-on experience with Cisco UCS servers, Fabric Interconnects, Cisco Nexus 9000 Series switches, and Fibre Channel environments can strengthen an application.

Experience with CI/CD pipelines and technologies such as AWS, Ansible, Docker, and Kubernetes is also beneficial. Familiarity with cloud-native observability tools can further support the requirements of the role.

Candidates with experience testing AI- or ML-enabled features may have an advantage, especially where their background includes prompt evaluation, response assessment, reliability testing, performance testing, safety validation, or failure-mode analysis.

Education

A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics and Communication Engineering, or a related technical discipline is required.

Experience

A minimum of 10 years of experience in software quality assurance or quality engineering is required. The role expects senior-level experience in quality strategy, automation architecture, enterprise software testing, release validation, and technical problem solving.

Experience should demonstrate the ability to work across engineering disciplines, influence product quality decisions, mentor other engineers, and communicate quality and release risks effectively.

Required Technologies

  • Python
  • Git
  • CI/CD
  • Selenium WebDriver
  • API Automation
  • Cisco UCS
  • Fabric Interconnects
  • Cisco Nexus 9000 Series
  • Fibre Channel
  • Ethernet Switching
  • AWS
  • Ansible
  • Docker

  • AI-assisted Engineering

Soft Skills

Strong analytical and problem-solving ability is important for investigating complex defects and infrastructure issues. The engineer should be comfortable working with geographically distributed teams and communicating technical findings to different audiences.

Technical leadership, mentoring, collaboration, and clear risk communication are also important. Candidates should be able to influence engineering decisions without losing sight of product quality, customer impact, security, and release requirements.

A continuous-learning mindset is useful because the role spans software quality, cloud infrastructure, automation, data-center technologies, and emerging AI-assisted engineering practices.

Benefits of Working in this Role

This role provides broad exposure to cloud quality engineering, enterprise SaaS platforms, test automation, CI/CD, data-center infrastructure, and modern AI-assisted engineering practices. Bangalore, India.

Who Should Apply

This opportunity is best suited to experienced Software QA Engineers, Quality Engineers, Automation Engineers, and senior test professionals with strong Python automation and enterprise infrastructure experience.

Candidates should apply if they can demonstrate substantial experience in quality strategy, test automation, CI/CD, Selenium WebDriver, Git, cloud platforms, microservices, or infrastructure validation. Exposure to enterprise cloud platforms, data-center infrastructure, AI-assisted testing, and cross-functional architecture decisions can support long-term growth into senior Quality Engineering, Automation Architect, QA Architect, or engineering leadership positions.

Application Advice

Tailor your resume to demonstrate measurable experience rather than simply listing tools. Highlight examples of Python automation frameworks you designed or maintained, CI/CD quality gates you implemented, testing strategies you created, and complex defects or release risks you successfully managed.

Clearly mention your experience with Selenium WebDriver, Git, cloud infrastructure, microservices, and enterprise SaaS platforms. If you have worked with Cisco UCS, Fabric Interconnects, Nexus switches, Fibre Channel, storage, virtualization, AWS, Ansible, Docker, or Kubernetes, describe the relevant environment and your responsibilities.

For AI-related experience, explain how you have used generative AI or AI-assisted tools for testing, automation, log analysis, defect triage, or code development. Emphasize responsible validation of AI-generated results and attention to security and sensitive information.

Include relevant networking certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, or CCIE if you hold them. Keep all application details accurate and aligned with your actual professional experience.
