Job description
What you’ll do in this role
Job Overview Honeywell is hiring an Embedded Engineer I for its Industrial Safety engineering organization in Bangalore. The role focuses on embedded software, FPGA-enabled signal acquisition and control systems, and safety-critical gas and flame detection products. The position supports development activities across embedded platforms, FPGA interfaces, signal processing, laser driver control, testing, validation, and documentation. The role is connected to Honeywell’s Industrial Safety business, which develops gas detection, flame detection, and related safety solutions for industrial environments. The position offers exposure to embedded systems and control technologies used in safety-focused sensing products. Key Responsibilities Participate in the design and development of embedded software and systems for fixed gas and flame detection sensors and controllers. Develop new features on embedded platforms and contribute across the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, implementation, and testing. Create and execute embedded software test plans covering unit, integration, and system testing. Use automated testing frameworks and tools to improve test coverage and testing effectiveness. Analyze test results and help identify and resolve software issues. Develop and validate FPGA-based interfaces and processing blocks for high-speed sensor data acquisition, timing control, filtering, co-adding, and real-time signal processing. Support laser driver development involving current and temperature control, modulation, protection, calibration, and laboratory validation. Collaborate with optical and spectroscopy teams to translate laser spectroscopy requirements into embedded firmware, FPGA logic, control algorithms, diagnostic utilities, and test automation. Develop proof-of-concept firmware and support FPGA and SoC bring-up activities. Contribute to high-speed data acquisition software applications and laser driver control firmware. Prepare technical reports, documentation, and progress updates. Required Skills Hands-on programming experience in C, Python, or C++. Experience with firmware development for Cortex M3/M4 and ARM V7 platforms. Experience using cross-compilers and development environments such as IAR Embedded Workbench, Eclipse, and MPLAB. Knowledge of wired communication and embedded control interfaces including SPI, I2C, WDT, and TIMER. Ability to statistically analyze data using software tools such as Microsoft Excel, MATLAB, or Minitab. Knowledge of laser spectroscopy, optical sensing, interferometric signal acquisition, spectral analysis, gas absorption measurement, and laboratory validation of electro-optical systems. Interest or experience in laser driver development, including current drivers, TEC and temperature control, modulation, protection circuits, calibration, and embedded control loops. Understanding of FPGA-based data acquisition, high-speed ADC interfacing, clocking, buffering, DMA and streaming concepts, and real-time processing pipelines. Exposure to FPGA design and verification using VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog. Understanding of FPGA development tools, timing closure, and hardware debugging with logic analyzers or embedded analyzers. Strong understanding of signal-processing techniques and mathematical concepts including FFT-based analysis, filtering, linear algebra, calculus, and statistical analysis. Preferred Skills Experience or strong interest in laser driver development is relevant to the position. Knowledge of FPGA-based signal acquisition, high-speed data processing, and hardware debugging can support the role. Exposure to FPGA design verification and timing closure is an added advantage according to the job description. Experience with proof-of-concept firmware, FPGA/SoC bring-up, test automation, or high-speed data acquisition applications is also relevant. Education The job requires a Master's degree or Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering. The supplied qualification master and branch master data are placeholders and do not contain authoritative database IDs, so no qualification or branch IDs are assigned. Experience The stated experience range is 0 to 3 years. The role is suitable for candidates with up to three years of experience who meet the specified technical and educational requirements. Required Technologies The job explicitly mentions C, Python, C++, Eclipse, IAR Embedded Workbench, MPLAB, SPI, I2C, FPGA, VHDL, Verilog, SystemVerilog, ARM, MATLAB, Microsoft Excel, Minitab, and signal-processing concepts. The supplied technology master contains matching records for C, Python, C++, and Eclipse IDE. The other named technical items are not represented by direct database technology records in the supplied master and are therefore captured in missing_technologies rather than assigned invented IDs. Soft Skills The role requires analytical thinking, problem solving, collaboration, technical documentation, testing discipline, and the ability to work with embedded, FPGA, optical, and spectroscopy teams. Candidates should be able to translate technical requirements into implementation and validation activities and communicate technical progress through reports and documentation. Benefits of Working in this Role The supplied job description does not specify company-specific benefits or perks. It describes technical exposure to embedded software, FPGA-based systems, signal processing, laser drivers, optical sensing, and industrial safety products. No insurance, bonuses, stock, paid leave, relocation package, learning budget, or other benefits are claimed because they are not stated in the provided job information. Work Mode The supplied job information lists the position at Honeywell’s Bangalore location but does not explicitly state a remote or hybrid arrangement. Therefore, the configured default work mode is onsite. Location The position is based at HW Camp II, Buildings 9A and 9B, Plot C2, RMZ Ecoworld, Vartur Hobli, Bangalore, Karnataka 560103, India. Bangalore is the stated job location. Who Should Apply Candidates with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics Engineering and 0 to 3 years of experience should consider this opportunity if they have relevant embedded systems knowledge. Applicants should be comfortable with C, Python, or C++, firmware development, ARM-based platforms, communication interfaces, FPGA concepts, and signal processing. Candidates with exposure to laser spectroscopy, optical sensing, FPGA development, or laser driver control are particularly aligned with the technical scope described in the posting. Career Growth The role provides exposure to embedded software development, FPGA-based data acquisition, real-time signal processing, laser driver control, optical sensing, functional safety-related product development, testing, and hardware-software integration.
