Role Overview

Job Overview

Eaton is hiring a Lead Engineer - UI for its Research & Development Engineering organization in Hadapsar, Pune. This hybrid opportunity focuses on front-end architecture and technical leadership for the Advanced Distribution Planning System (ADPS), a platform supporting the analysis and modeling of electricity distribution networks and renewable energy systems.

The role is designed for an experienced front-end engineer who can combine hands-on development with architecture ownership, engineering standards, mentoring, and technical decision-making. You will work with product owners, architects, UX designers, software engineers, and other stakeholders to create scalable, responsive, accessible, and high-performing user interfaces.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the architecture, design, and development of enterprise-scale Angular applications and Micro Frontend solutions.
  • Define front-end architecture standards, coding practices, reusable patterns, and engineering guidelines.
  • Drive Nx Monorepo and Module Federation architecture to support scalable and maintainable applications.
  • Design reusable UI frameworks, shared components, and front-end platform capabilities.
  • Establish clear separation between UI, Feature, and Data Access layers.
  • Promote Storybook for component development, testing, documentation, and consistent UI engineering.
  • Lead GraphQL integration with Apollo Client and help optimize client-side caching strategies.
  • Establish approaches for dashboards, complex data visualization, and AG Grid implementations.
  • Improve front-end performance, accessibility, responsiveness, and overall user experience.
  • Conduct technical design reviews, architecture discussions, and code reviews.
  • Contribute to CI/CD, quality engineering, automation, and front-end modernization initiatives.
  • Mentor engineers and encourage strong engineering practices across the team.
  • Evaluate emerging front-end technologies and AI-assisted development tools.
  • Provide technical guidance on architectural decisions and help teams resolve complex engineering challenges.

Required Skills

The position requires strong expertise in Angular, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. Candidates should have practical experience building scalable and responsive web applications and understand front-end architecture, component design, software design principles, testing, debugging, and performance optimization.

Experience with Angular Material, Nx, RxJS, RESTful APIs, GitHub, and Jira is important. The role also requires knowledge of CI/CD practices and Agile or Scrum delivery environments.

Candidates should understand Micro Frontend architecture and have experience with GraphQL. Experience with Azure is required, while broader cloud-native deployment knowledge can further strengthen an application.

Testing knowledge should include unit testing, integration testing, and test automation. The ability to review code, identify technical risks, troubleshoot application issues, and improve application performance is essential for this lead-level position.

Preferred Skills

Experience with modern testing and automation tools such as Playwright, Selenium, JMeter, and Pytest is desirable. Candidates who have integrated automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and worked closely with QA teams on quality gates may be well suited to the role.

Additional value comes from strong working knowledge of Azure and/or AWS, particularly for deploying, scaling, and monitoring cloud-native applications. Experience with frontend modernization, reusable design systems, technical governance, and AI-assisted development tools can also be useful.

Education

Applicants should hold a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, or a comparable engineering discipline from an accredited institution. A Master’s degree in Electrical, Computer, Electronics, or Telecommunications Engineering is preferred.

Experience

This is an experienced technology leadership opportunity requiring at least 8 years of software and front-end development experience. The JD also specifies 8 or more years working with Angular, React, or modern JavaScript frameworks and at least 5 years of technical leadership and team mentoring experience.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate ownership of significant UI architecture decisions, hands-on development expertise, mentoring experience, and the ability to guide teams through complex front-end engineering challenges.

Required Technologies

Core technologies for this UI engineering role include Angular, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Angular Material, Nx, RxJS, RESTful APIs, GraphQL, Apollo Client, Micro Frontend architecture, Module Federation, Storybook, and AG Grid.

The role also involves GitHub, Jira, CI/CD, Azure, Agile/Scrum, unit testing, integration testing, and test automation. Preferred testing technologies include Playwright, Selenium, JMeter, and Pytest. AWS is also mentioned as a preferred cloud platform.

Soft Skills

Strong verbal and written communication is important because the Lead Engineer will work with diverse teams locally and internationally. The role requires strong problem-solving ability, stakeholder management, collaboration, and the confidence to lead technical discussions.

Candidates should be comfortable working through ambiguity, managing processes, translating business requirements into practical user experiences, mentoring developers, and collaborating with product owners, UX professionals, architects, QA teams, and software engineers.

Benefits of Working in this Role

The position provides an opportunity to contribute to digital solutions supporting smarter and more sustainable energy management. The role combines front-end architecture, modern web engineering, cloud technologies, technical leadership, and product-focused development.

The job description identifies a hybrid work environment and comprehensive benefits from day one. It also provides exposure to a global engineering environment, Agile delivery, technology innovation, and products connected with modernizing electricity distribution systems.

Work Mode

This is a hybrid position. Eaton lists the role as based in its India Innovation Center environment in Pune, with the work arrangement identified as Hybrid.

Location

The position is located in Hadapsar, Pune, Maharashtra, India. The department is Research & Development Engineering.

Who Should Apply

This opportunity is suitable for Lead UI Engineers, Lead Front-End Developers, Senior Angular Developers, UI Architects, and experienced Front-End Technical Leads who meet the required experience level.

Professionals should consider applying if they have strong Angular or modern JavaScript framework expertise, experience leading UI architecture, knowledge of Micro Frontends, GraphQL, cloud platforms, CI/CD, testing, and team mentoring. Candidates who enjoy solving complex front-end problems and influencing technical direction will find the role relevant.

Career Growth

This position can provide meaningful growth in front-end architecture, technical leadership, cloud-native application development, engineering governance, and modern UI platform design. Working with Micro Frontends, Nx, Module Federation, GraphQL, observability-oriented cloud practices, automation, and AI-assisted development can broaden an experienced engineer’s technical scope.

The leadership and mentoring responsibilities can also support progression toward UI architecture, principal engineering, engineering management, or broader technical leadership paths, depending on individual performance and career goals.

Application Advice

Tailor your resume toward architecture ownership rather than listing front-end technologies alone. Highlight years of experience with Angular or modern JavaScript frameworks, examples of enterprise UI architecture, Micro Frontend implementations, Nx or Module Federation work, and reusable component platforms.

Clearly mention experience with TypeScript, JavaScript, Angular, RxJS, GraphQL, Apollo Client, REST APIs, testing, CI/CD, Azure, GitHub, and Jira where applicable. If you have worked with Playwright, Selenium, JMeter, Pytest, AWS, or AI-assisted development tools, include those details.

For a lead position, also describe mentoring, technical design reviews, code review leadership, stakeholder collaboration, performance improvements, and architectural decisions you have influenced. Focus on practical outcomes and the scale of the systems you have supported.
