Citi is hiring an Application Development - Vice President for its Futures and Derivatives Clearing Technology organization in Pune, Maharashtra. This full-time, hybrid role leads development for the Data and Reporting platform, which supports client reporting and downstream applications.

The platform provides reporting on real-time trades, positions, initial and variation margin, and balances for external clients and internal teams. A major initiative is to modernize the platform to improve scale and support changing products and business requirements.

About the Team

The Futures and Derivatives Clearing Technology team works with business stakeholders, external vendors, and internal technology groups to build and maintain clearing platforms. The Data and Reporting team collaborates with business users, QA engineers, and business analysts to deliver and support reporting capabilities.

As the development lead, you will guide technical design and implementation, analyze complex requirements, document solutions, and help ensure systems are fit for purpose.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of technical solutions for the Data and Reporting application and its data integration, applying sound engineering practices.
• Contribute to technical direction and provide expert analysis throughout development and implementation, identifying problems and shaping solutions.
• Work with business users, stakeholders, business analysts, product managers, and other development teams to understand requirements and evaluate approaches.
• Design and develop resilient, stateless, scalable, and testable applications using microservices and cloud-native architecture.
• Contribute to CI/CD implementation and DevOps practices in line with industry and Citi standards.
• Work with business subject-matter experts to understand critical data and reporting needs and the business impact of data quality and integrity issues.
• Use metrics and performance indicators to assess team efficiency, support data-driven decisions, and identify improvement opportunities.
• Partner with QA to support robust functional and non-functional testing during release cycles.
• Coordinate with production support teams on platform stability, proactive monitoring, and health checks.
• Collaborate with other Citi development teams to build APIs, integrations, and reusable components.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship, encourage collaboration, and support continuous learning within the team.

Required Skills and Experience

• Strong experience designing and building enterprise application and data architecture with a focus on engineering quality.
• Hands-on experience leading solution architecture and development across front-end web applications, back-end systems, and scalable data architecture.
• Strong knowledge of scalable systems and microservices-based architecture.
• Practical development experience with traditional and modern data systems, including relational and non-relational databases, cloud or big-data platforms, and data quality or lineage tools.
• Experience with databases, data models, and large data warehouses; Oracle is preferred.
• Experience serving as a development lead for software delivery and implementation.
• Experience with application security practices, including secret management and OAuth/PKI.
• Experience implementing DevOps, CI/CD, testing automation, and modern engineering principles such as SOLID.
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment and in observability and monitoring.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, including effective work with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and management.

Technical Skills

• Java and Spring Boot for application development.
• Angular and React for front-end web development.
• Kafka for platform integration and data-related workflows.
• Oracle Database and experience with relational or non-relational databases and large data warehouses.
• AWS and Docker in cloud-native application environments.
• Spring Cloud is mentioned alongside Spring Boot in the requirements, but is not a separate item in the supplied technology master.

Additional Experience

Experience in financial services is a plus but is not required. Exposure to Generative AI, agentic AI, AI-agent integration, or automation development is also considered an advantage. The role calls for an exploratory mindset and an interest in adopting new technologies.
