Job Overview

WEX is hiring a Software Development Engineer 1 for its Benefits Technology team in Bangalore, India. Key Responsibilities

• Work with engineering peers to complete tasks and deliver valuable software solutions for customers.
• Monitor, measure, and inspect operational and quality metrics to identify opportunities for improving service performance and system health.
• Analyze existing systems and processes to identify bottlenecks and potential improvements.
• Support engineering team members during technical deep dives and rapid incident response activities.
• Learn new technologies, share technical findings with the team, and contribute to continuous learning.
• Design, test, code, and instrument software solutions while following established engineering practices and guidance from peers and managers.
• Use AI-powered development tools, including code completion and refactoring assistance, to improve development efficiency and maintain code quality.
• Assist with engineering practices based on TDD, BDD, Microservice Architecture, and Vertical Slice Architecture.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance automated test frameworks and test suites to improve regression coverage, reliability, and testing efficiency.
• Analyze automated test results, troubleshoot failures, and work with engineering teams to resolve defects and test automation issues.
• Expand automated test coverage for new and existing functionality across UI, API, and integration testing.

Required Skills

• Strong problem-solving ability with effective communication and collaboration skills.
• Understanding of object-oriented programming, SOLID principles, and software design principles.
• Experience with automated testing and test automation practices.
• Experience building and consuming REST APIs.
• Familiarity with version control and CI/CD practices.
• Ability or aptitude to integrate AI/ML-driven development workflows into the daily Software Development Lifecycle.
• Interest in keeping up with modern technologies and software design practices.

Education

A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is required, or candidates may demonstrate equivalent experience.

Experience

The role requires at least 3 months of work experience in software engineering.

Technology Must-Haves

• C# – Experience or knowledge relevant to software development responsibilities.
• Python – Listed as a technology requirement where applicable.
• REST API – Experience building and consuming REST APIs.
• Automated Testing – Understanding of test automation practices and automated test solutions.
• CI/CD – Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous delivery practices.
• Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) – Ability to integrate AI/ML-driven development workflows into daily software development activities.

Technology Nice-To-Have

• Microsoft Azure, Docker, Kubernetes, GitHub Actions, Helm, Argo CD, and Terraform.
• GraphQL and Apache Kafka for API and event-driven architecture concepts.
• Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and NoSQL databases.
• Angular or React for modern web user interfaces.
• Selenium or similar UI automation frameworks, along with API automation and automated regression testing.
• Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions or similar CI/CD platforms.

Work Mode & Location
