Pearson is hiring a Quality Assurance Engineer III for an AI transformation project. Key Responsibilities

• Plan, develop, and carry out manual and automated testing to verify product requirements and quality standards.
• Work with developers, AI specialists, business analysts, and Product Owners to establish acceptance criteria, estimates, quality expectations, and test strategies.
• Build, maintain, and improve automated testing within CI/CD pipelines, helping increase test coverage and streamline QA processes.
• Collaborate with developers on testing approaches such as test-driven development (TDD) and behavior-driven development (BDD) in cloud and hybrid environments.
• Lead integration testing across cloud platforms, APIs, and microservices to assess the behavior and scalability of connected solutions.
• Perform security testing related to vulnerability fixes and verify that changes are suitable for production delivery.
• Investigate complex or escalated testing issues, analyze findings, and provide clear feedback and accurate test reports.
• Contribute to sprint planning, backlog refinement, code reviews, and retrospectives, promoting quality-focused delivery and suggesting process or tool improvements.
• Track test outcomes, defects, and quality measures using tools such as Azure DevOps or Jira, ensuring issues are followed through and results remain transparent.
• Guide junior QA engineers and share effective testing and quality assurance practices.

Required Skills and Experience

• Professional experience in software quality assurance, including automation and testing applications written in Java and .NET languages.
• Practical knowledge of AWS and/or Microsoft Azure, including testing applications designed for cloud environments.
• Understanding of AI/ML systems, data pipelines, and techniques for validating models.
• Experience with test automation tools such as Selenium, Playwright, TestNG, and Cucumber.
• API testing experience using Postman and REST Assured.
• Knowledge of accessibility testing and browser compatibility testing.
• Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD tooling such as GitHub Actions and Azure Pipelines, and container technologies including Docker and Kubernetes.
• Ability to write complex SQL queries, joins, and stored procedures to verify backend data.
• Experience working with relational databases such as Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.
• Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills, with careful attention to detail and effective communication and collaboration.

Desirable Skills and Experience

• Exposure to AI model testing, bias detection, and explainability validation.
• Relevant certifications in AWS, Azure, ISTQB, or an equivalent area.
• Experience supporting performance and security testing teams.
• Understanding of applying a clear Definition of Done before moving work items to Done in Jira.
• Experience with Jenkins and Apache Maven.
• Root cause analysis (RCA) and shift-left testing practices.
