Deloitte is hiring an entry-level BTA - Quality Engineer for its Analytics Horizontal team in Hyderabad. The role focuses on helping verify the reliability, accuracy, usability, security, and performance of analytics solutions, including reports, dashboards, data pipelines, APIs, and AI-enabled applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with quality engineering leads, developers, analysts, product owners, and business stakeholders to understand requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, and business rules.
• Prepare and update test scenarios, test cases, test data, requirement traceability information, and test evidence for analytics solutions.
• Perform functional, integration, system, regression, retesting, exploratory, user-interface, API, and end-to-end testing across reports, dashboards, pipelines, and AI-enabled applications.
• Check reports and dashboards for data accuracy, calculations, filters, drill-down behavior, visual presentation, usability, access controls, exports, and performance.
• Use SQL queries and source-to-target comparisons to verify data completeness, accuracy, consistency, transformations, reconciliations, refreshes, and exception handling.
• Test ETL/ELT workflows, file and API integrations, scheduled jobs, and cloud-based data processes. Cover positive, negative, boundary, and failure conditions.
• Evaluate AI-enabled application behavior for functional correctness, relevance, groundedness, guardrails, permissions, error handling, and consistency using approved test data and expected outcomes.
• Identify, document, prioritize, track, retest, and report defects with reproduction steps, evidence, expected and actual results, and business impact.
• Support automation work by creating or maintaining reusable scripts for API, user-interface, data-validation, and regression testing under guidance.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, defect triage, test-status updates, release-readiness activities, and post-release validation.
• Maintain test suites, test data, quality metrics, and documentation, and suggest ways to improve test coverage and delivery quality.

Required Skills

• Foundational knowledge of software testing, the software development life cycle (SDLC), and defect life cycle.
• Ability to interpret requirements and acceptance criteria and translate them into clear, structured test scenarios and cases.
• Basic SQL skills for querying, comparing, and validating data, including joins, filters, aggregations, and reconciliation checks.
• Understanding of data-quality measures such as completeness, accuracy, consistency, uniqueness, validity, and timeliness.
• Familiarity with testing web applications, reports, dashboards, APIs, or data pipelines through coursework, projects, internships, or practical experience.
• Analytical thinking, attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and willingness to investigate application and data issues.
• Clear written and verbal communication, including the ability to document defects and explain findings to technical and nontechnical audiences.
• Ability to learn analytics platforms, business processes, and testing tools and work collaboratively in a fast-paced Agile team.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel for test-data preparation, analysis, reconciliation, and quality-status reporting.

Tools and Technical Exposure

• SQL – Query and compare data to validate records, transformations, and reconciliations across source and target systems.
• Python, C#, or JavaScript – Basic scripting or programming knowledge in one of these or a similar language.
• Playwright, Selenium, and Postman – Exposure to UI automation, test frameworks, or API testing tools is relevant to the role.
• Azure DevOps or Jira – Familiarity with test-management or defect-tracking platforms, or equivalent tools.
• Power BI and reporting tools – Awareness of visualization and reporting tools such as QlikView, Qlik Sense, SSRS, Bold Reports, or Power BI.
• ETL/ELT and data platforms – Awareness of data workflows, relational databases, REST APIs, data warehouses, and cloud services.
• AWS and Databricks – Exposure to cloud data services such as Amazon S3, Glue, Redshift, Lambda, or Databricks is useful.
• AI and GenAI testing – Interest in prompt-based applications, retrieval-augmented generation, response evaluation, guardrails, and responsible test-data use.
• Agile, version control, and CI/CD – Understanding of Agile delivery, release testing, continuous integration and delivery, and production validation.
