Job Overview

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is hiring a Senior Manager, Software Development for the OpenSearch Core Foundation team in Karnataka. This leadership role focuses on building and scaling the next generation of OpenSearch indexing, storage, and metadata systems that power managed and serverless search services. You will lead multiple engineering teams, define technical strategy, and deliver highly available, large-scale distributed systems that support mission-critical search and analytics workloads.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor engineering managers and senior software engineers.
• Define long-term technical vision and execution strategy.
• Drive the design of distributed indexing, storage, metadata, and replication systems.
• Collaborate with product, program, and business stakeholders to prioritize customer-focused features.
• Establish operational excellence for availability, latency, durability, and scalability.
• Recruit, develop, and retain high-performing engineering talent.
• Coordinate with cross-functional AWS teams on shared infrastructure and engineering initiatives.
• Communicate technical strategy and progress to senior leadership.

Required Skills

Strong expertise in distributed systems, software architecture, engineering management, large-scale cloud platforms, Agile delivery, technical leadership, and operational excellence.

Preferred Skills

Experience building search platforms, data infrastructure, high-traffic applications, and enterprise-scale data management systems.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
