Zycus is hiring a Software Engineer (PICT) for its Software Engineering team. The role is open to candidates with 0–1 years of experience and is based in Mumbai, Bengaluru or Pune with a hybrid work arrangement. The position is full time and is designed for 2027 BE or B.Tech graduates interested in scalable software development and AI-assisted engineering.

The role combines backend engineering fundamentals with exposure to AI-driven development practices. Candidates will work with experienced engineers to build production-grade software, learn modern backend technologies and contribute to enterprise software and AI-enabled workflows.

Zycus develops Source-to-Pay procurement software for enterprises. Its platform uses Merlin AI to provide intelligence, automation and predictive capabilities across procurement processes including sourcing, contract management, procurement, invoicing and supplier management.

Key Responsibilities

AI-Augmented Engineering

• Use AI tools to support coding, debugging, testing, documentation and learning.
• Apply prompt engineering techniques to improve software development productivity.
• Work with senior engineers on production-grade software using AI-assisted development workflows.
• Explore emerging AI tools and development practices.

Backend Engineering

• Develop and maintain backend applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Build REST APIs and microservices with guidance from experienced engineers.
• Work with databases, data models and application integrations.
• Write clean, maintainable and testable code.
• Participate in code reviews and engineering discussions.

AI-Aware Development

• Learn how AI-powered applications and agent-based systems are designed.
• Contribute to APIs and services that can interact with AI systems.
• Gain exposure to enterprise-scale AI workflows and automation platforms.

Eligibility Criteria

• BE or B.Tech in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics, Artificial Intelligence, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, Data Science, or related branches.
• Graduation in 2027.
• Minimum 80% or equivalent CGPA in 10th, 12th and BE/B.Tech.
• No active backlogs and no history of backlogs or arrears.
• Strong understanding of Data Structures and Algorithms, Object-Oriented Programming, DBMS, Operating Systems and Computer Networks.
• Good programming skills, with Java preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication skills and a willingness to learn new technologies.
• Interest in AI-assisted software development demonstrated through projects, hackathons, internships, coding competitions or open-source contributions.

Technical Skills

• Strong programming fundamentals.
• Basic knowledge of Spring Boot or backend development frameworks.
• Understanding of REST APIs and web technologies.
• Knowledge of SQL and relational databases.
• Familiarity with Git and version control systems.
• Exposure to cloud platforms, Docker, Kubernetes or AI development tools is a plus.

Preferred and Bonus Experience

• Projects using AI tools, LLMs, Agentic AI frameworks or GenAI APIs.
• Participation in coding competitions, hackathons or technical challenges.
• Development of web, mobile or full-stack applications.
• Contributions to GitHub projects or open-source communities.
• Technical blogs, research papers or publicly shared technical content.
