Job Overview
NXP is hiring an entry-level Data Engineer for its Bangalore location. This full-time role is designed for an early-career engineer who wants to develop practical data engineering skills while building a strong understanding of DevOps and operational practices.
The role involves helping build and maintain reliable and scalable data pipelines that support business functions across the enterprise. The engineer will work under the guidance of senior team members while taking increasing responsibility for pipeline development, deployment, monitoring, and operational activities.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering and Delivery
- Help build and maintain data pipelines on Databricks under the guidance of experienced engineers.
- Develop ETL/ELT processes with attention to data quality, consistency, and scalability.
- Contribute to reusable frameworks for data ingestion, transformation, and reconciliation across source systems.
- Follow established coding standards, pipeline patterns, and ETL/ELT engineering practices.
Operations and DevOps
- Assist with deploying changes through CI/CD processes and the Change Request lifecycle, including validation and ticket closure.
- Participate in problem-solving and root-cause analysis with the goal of addressing recurring issues.
- Help monitor data workloads and support incident response with guidance from senior engineers.
Collaboration
- Work with Reporting, Platform, and Business teams to help deliver curated datasets for downstream consumers.
- Communicate progress and issues clearly with engineering peers and mentors.
- Document workflows and runbooks to support reproducibility and knowledge sharing.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- At least 1 year of experience in data engineering or a related area, including internships.
- Foundational hands-on knowledge of Databricks, Python (PySpark), and SQL for data processing.
- Exposure to building data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes through projects, internships, or coursework.
- Basic understanding of CI/CD pipelines and Git-based version control.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, with AWS preferred, or willingness to learn.
- Awareness of monitoring and observability concepts.
- Good communication skills and eagerness to learn.
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to orchestration frameworks or streaming technologies.
- Basic familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code and deployment tooling.
- Awareness of observability tooling for data platforms.
- Background or interest in semiconductor manufacturing or large-scale industrial data processing.
- Databricks or cloud certification is a plus.
Technologies and Technical Skills
- Databricks – Foundational hands-on knowledge is required for data pipeline development and maintenance.
- Python – Used with PySpark for data processing.
- SQL – Required for data processing activities.
- AWS – Preferred cloud platform familiarity.
- Git – Basic Git-based version control knowledge is expected.
- ETL/ELT – Candidates should have exposure through projects, internships, or coursework.
- CI/CD – Basic understanding and practical exposure to deployment pipelines are required.
Experience and Early-Career Development
The position requires 1 or more years of experience in data engineering or a related area, including internships. Fresh graduates with relevant internship experience are encouraged to apply.
During the first 6 to 12 months, the role is intended to help the engineer develop a solid understanding of the data platform, confidently complete assigned pipeline tasks, and become comfortable with CI/CD and operational practices while receiving support from senior engineers.
