Microsoft is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for its CoreAI organization in Bangalore. The position is part of the Responsible AI group, which develops services designed to identify, measure, reduce, and monitor risks associated with AI-generated and human-generated content across text, image, audio, video, and multimodal experiences.

This is a senior individual contributor role focused on building customer-facing AI services that need strong performance, low latency, high availability, security, and operational reliability. The engineer will work with software engineers, scientists, product managers, and other technical teams to develop new services and connect them with Microsoft AI platforms and services.

The role offers an opportunity to work across the software development lifecycle, from architecture and implementation to testing, deployment, telemetry, incident response, and continuous improvement. Engineers will also be expected to use AI-assisted development responsibly, improve engineering practices, and contribute to secure and reliable production systems.


Key Responsibilities

  • Design and evolve architectures for complex AI service scenarios while considering scalability, performance, reliability, disaster recovery, security, privacy, compliance, and operating costs.
  • Develop production-quality software using strong engineering practices and one or more supported programming languages.
  • Build and integrate customer-facing AI services with existing Microsoft AI platforms and services.
  • Own features and services from initial design through implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, and operational support.
  • Conduct high-quality code reviews and apply secure, testable, performant, and diagnosable development practices.
  • Use automated analysis, debugging, telemetry, and engineering feedback to improve software quality.

  • Influence technical direction through architecture discussions, design reviews, and cross-team collaboration.
  • Mentor engineers and help raise engineering standards across the organization.


Required Skills

Candidates should have at least 6 years of professional software engineering experience with strong hands-on development in languages such as C# or Python. The role requires a strong foundation in software design, system architecture, data structures, algorithms, and development of scalable and secure services.

Applicants should have experience owning complex software features or services across the complete lifecycle. This includes architecture and implementation, testing, deployment, production monitoring, troubleshooting, and operational support.

Knowledge of cloud-based and distributed systems is important. Candidates should understand reliability engineering, performance optimization, diagnostics, telemetry, and live-site support.
