Microsoft is hiring for a Software Engineering role in Bangalore within the Azure Data organization. The team works on data and analytics infrastructure that supports Microsoft Fabric Spark, Azure Synapse Spark, and Cosmos Analytics services operating at large scale.

The role provides an opportunity to contribute to software development, debugging, testing, security, code reviews, feature integration, deployment support, and customer service operations. The position is an individual contributor role with full-time employment.

About the Team

Microsoft's Azure Data engineering organization develops technologies across databases, data integration, big data analytics, messaging, real-time analytics, and business intelligence. Its portfolio includes Microsoft Fabric, Azure SQL Database, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure PostgreSQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Grid, and Power BI.

The Data Engineering One Infra team builds and maintains infrastructure for Microsoft Fabric Spark, Azure Synapse Spark, and Cosmos Analytics. These services operate at significant scale and execute millions of Spark jobs each day.

Key Responsibilities

• Learn and develop extensible and maintainable software using established coding patterns and engineering best practices.
• Assist with debugging and testing while identifying issues through logs, telemetry, and automated code analysis under guidance.
• Support development and testing of design options while learning about system dependencies, performance, scalability, and security fundamentals.
• Participate in code reviews to understand quality standards and begin reviewing peer contributions.
• Use AI tools responsibly throughout the software development lifecycle and review AI-generated code changes.
• Support security practices involving code invariants, security testing, monitoring, and compliance activities with direct guidance.
• Collaborate with partner teams on feature integration, end-to-end testing, and deployment activities.
• Escalate issues appropriately and participate in on-call support for service degradation, downtime, and interruptions.

Required Qualifications

• Associate's Degree or apprenticeship in Computer Science or a related technical discipline.
• At least 6 months of proven work or internship experience in coding.
• Coding experience may include languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
• Equivalent experience may also be considered as specified in the job description.

Preferred Qualifications

A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline is preferred, along with proven coding experience in C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python, or equivalent experience.

Security Requirements

The position requires the ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements. The role requires passing the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire or transfer and every two years thereafter.

Work Mode & Location

This full-time position is based in Bangalore, Karnataka, India. The listed work site requires 1 day per week in-office, indicating a hybrid work arrangement. Travel is listed as less than 25%.
